Longtime cruiserweight titlist Johnny Nelson is scheduled to dust off his WBO title belt and defend it against Italy's Vincenzo Cantatore on November 26, 2005 in Rome. If he wins, a British superfight awaits him against rising Enzo Maccarinelli, a 25 year-old Brit who has moved from prospect to legitimate contender. However, Nelson is saying he might pass up the payday and retire right after the Canatore fight. "It means a lot to me to be world champion and I think it would be better for me to retire as undefeated champion," the 39 year-old Nelson told the icWales website. Nelson hasnt fought since September, 2004. His record is not great for a champion, 44-12-2, but he hasn't officially lost since a 1995 foray into the heavyweight division. He captured the WBO belt in 1999, making him the second longest reigning champ in the sport, behind only Joe Calzaghe. --Scott Shaffer
