Oleydong goes Eagle hunting

New Champ Is Crowned In Bangkok

Oleydong Sithsamerchai W12 Eagle Den Junlaphan... In a rare all-Thai world title fight, Oleydong Sithsamerchai upset the reigning champion to claim the WBC 105-pound championship. Fighting in Bangkok, he registered a unanimous points victory over Eagle Den Junlaphan aka Eagle Kyowa aka Eagle Akakura aka Eagle Okuda by scores of 115-114, 115-113 and 117-112. The bout was part of the King of Thailand's 80th birthday celebration and fans were admitted for free. Sithsamerchai is the first ever world champion from the Trang region of Thailand. Eagle has been fighting out of Japan for a few years now. Sithsamerchai (25-0) was reported to be the superior boxer and Eagle the harder puncher, but Sithsamerchai was able to put enough early rounds in the bank to withstand Eagle's late rally. Sithsamerchai's promoter said he wants to put the new champ's first title defense in his home region. Eagle falls to 18-2, but he's had more last names than losses so he is still a viable contender. The guess here is he changes his name again for his next fight. source: bangkok post
