Ohara Davies Removed from Okolie-Chamberlain Undercard Following the Comments of Sun Newspaper

Well, Ohara Davies is no longer going to fight on the Okolie-Chamberlain undercard on this February followed by the comments which have been made on social media regarding the Sun newspaper. 

It was visible on Twitter that Davies, the super lightweight contender was involved in an exchange with the Hull fighter Tommy Coyle. The Sun was successfully praised by Londoner Davies for which Coyle has been an outspoken critic of for their reporting of the Hillsborough disaster in the year 1989. 

In the statement, promoter Eddie Hearn mentioned the comments to be totally unacceptable. 

The management team of Davies which is named as Sims Sports Management has suspended Davies who was supposed to fight as an unnamed opponent on the Lawrence Okolie Vs Issac Chamberlain undercard at London’s O2 Arena on 3rd February. 

Aso, Hearn claimed that he believes Davies’s comments were made totally out of ignorance and they were unacceptable. He further mentioned that the comments seem to be highly offensive to many of their friends, fighters, and even to a city for which we have a huge respect for, 

As per Charlie Sims of Sims Sports Management, the agreement from Davies was suspended with immediate effect. He further added that the Fighter’s comments were extremely intentional and drastically ignorant. 

Moreover, Davies enjoyed a heated rivalry with Derry Mathews of Liverpool in the previous part of 2017. And, then clashed with the fans of the city in the build-up to their bout. 

Also, the Sun newspaper is still marginalized in the north-western part of the city for its coverage of the Hillsborough Disaster where there happened a death of 96 football fans. 

And, in the list of tweets on Friday, David announced that he would love to wear a sun logo on this shorts, work with the publication to promote various fights, and intensely use the hashtag #BuyTheSun. 
But, he has since deleted the tweets and made an apology that stating his intention was nothing but to goad Coyle into a potential bout on the 3rd of February. 

Davies, a great health enthusiast, and a renowned boxer have 16 wins from overall 17 fights. His one and only loss would come against unbeaten Scottish fighter Josh Taylor in July. 

The London-born fighter had a hope to close in on the World Title Shot of 2018 with a beginning of victory at the 02 Arena where Rio 2016 Olympian Okolie faces the fellow London Chamberlain to be on the top of the bill.
