Daniel Blancas TKO1 Aro Schwartz... The historic 100th championship fight night held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas began at 12:33pm local time on Saturday afternoon. Later this evening, Gervonta “Tank” Davis will headline the latest PBC PPV on Prime against Frank Martin, in defense of his lightweight crown. Six-foot-three super middleweight prospect Daniel “Ice Man” Blancas, 166 lbs., of Milwaukee, WI, earned a first-round stoppage against German southpaw Aro Schwartz, 165 lbs., of Karlsruhe, Baden-Wurttemburg. Trapping Schwartz against the ropes, Blancas wobbled his foe with a left hook then dropped him with a straight right. Referee Harvey Dock waved off the count for the TKO victory at 1:50 of the frame. Blancas, 10-0 (5 KOs), was a 13-time National champion as an amateur before turning pro in March 2022. Schwartz’s record dipped to 23-8-1 (15 KOs).
ADDITIONAL RESULTS
Making his pro debut, 18-year-old super bantamweight southpaw Brayan Gonzalez, 120.8 lbs., of Phoenix, AZ, used speed, angles and a stiff straight left to dominate James Mulder, 121.6 lbs., of Antioch, CA. Gonzalez, a Junior Olympics silver medalist, was also effective with his counter right hook, which dropped Mulder in round one. After four rounds, Gonzalez was awarded a unanimous decision with three tallies of 40-35. Mulder is now 0-2.
Margaret “The Black Panther” Whitmore, 127.2 lbs., of Euclid, OH, earned a four-round majority decision against Baltimore, Maryland’s Mia “Killer Bee” Ellis, 128.6 lbs., the daughter of Gervonta Davis-trainer Kenny Ellis. While Ellis applied pressure, the shorter, quicker Whitmore remained elusive throwing flurries of combinations. When Ellis did find her target, she made sure her punches landed with a thud. However, Whitmore remained the busier fighter. The scorecards read 38-38, and 39-37 twice for the 3-0 Whitmore. Ellis, suffering a second consecutive loss, is now 7-3 (6 KOs).
Featherweight Reina Tellez, 124.2 lbs., of San Antonio, TX, took on Hungarian Beata Dudek, 120 lbs., of Miskolc, in a scheduled four-rounder. Pressuring her way inside, the five-foot-tall Tellez overcame a seven-inch height disadvantage by outworking her foe with overhand rights and left hooks. Dudek did well landing shots to the body. At the conclusion of the bout, all three judges tallied 40-36 in favor of Tellez, now 8-0-1 (5 KOs). Dudek left the ring at 4-2 (4 KOs).
