Press release: Light welterweight talent John O’Donnell has again asked for help in selecting a tub-thumping ring walk tune. The Light welterweight initially asked members of HennessySports.com to come up with suggestions, but has been less than impressed!
“It seems that the website users agreed with the promotional team here at Hennessy Sports,” said the former Junior Olympic champion.
“They voted that I should come out to Jamelia’s ‘Superstar’. What a load of big girls blouses!
“Ok admittedly I am a superstar! But I need a man’s track, not a chicks warm up tune before they leave the house on a Saturday night!”
In search of the answer the Shepherds Bush based boxer, with Galway roots, has turned to his Irish fan base.
He continued: “Lets have the Irish people of North West London decide. I want people to contact the Irish World with their ideas for my ring song and I will walk out to the best.
“We will even give the winner a couple of tickets to come and watch it all go down when I box on the Hennessy Sports ‘Born To Do It’ promotion on November 12th at the Wembley Conference Centre.
“We are a trendy bunch, so no doubt they will deliver the goods.
“Something rousing, something that is going to stir the crowd is the order of the day.
“I might even perform a little shuffle as I jump into the ring!”
That’s when the serious business begins. In his three performances to date O’Donnell has only ever had good days at the office.
“I am delighted with the way things have gone since I turned over in April,” he added. “I have learnt so much under Robert McCracken.
“I got taken to points in my first two fights, but it was good to get several three minute rounds under my belt and adjust to life as a professional.
“Last time out though in Nottingham against Chris Long I really got into my flow. I was picking my punches beautifully and knew that sooner or later I was going to break him down.
“It was a great feeling when it was all waved off in the fourth.
“I will be looking for a similar result at Wembley.”
‘Born To Do It’ takes place at the Wembley Conference Centre on Friday November 12th. The headline contest sees Junior Witter defend his European light welterweight title against Poland’s Krzystof Bienias. A full bill is available at
