Nunez clears up Guzman rumors!

Manager Jose Nunez doesn't really know where the rumor started. What he wants to do is squash the story that his undefeated junior lightweight star Joan Guzman is challenging WBO champion Jorge Barrios in November.
"I've seen it, I've heard it and it's floating around on the Internet," the Brooklyn-based business mogul said. "But I have not received any contract of any kind from our co-promoters, Golden Boy and Sycuan. Guzman is anxious to jump back into the ring after his dazzling shutout victory over Javier Jauregui (May 6, underneath the de la Hoya-Mayorga PPV main event). We lost so much precious time because of the troubles and postponements of Scott Harrison and that foolishness of three different dates in two different countries.
"Joan is in training now," Nunez said. "We would welcome a title shot against Barrios , Cassius Baloyi or Vincente Mosquera, just as we would welcome fighting Manny Pacquaio, Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barerra or anyone else who is a pay-per-view attraction. But I can also tell you that Joan cannot wait until November to fight again. He needs to fight by September.  I hope we hear from our promoters in the next week or so. Guzman does not like not having a world title belt so he wants to get busy."
Nunez also manages junior welterweight star Vicious Vivian Harris, an ex-champ who continues his comeback July 29 on HBO "After Dark" against Mighty Mike Arnaoutis. Aranoutis is ranked second among the 140-pounders by the WBO.
