Pulitzer Prize Winning Author Penned "The Fight"
Norman Mailer passed away at Mount Sinai Hospital this morning from acute renal failure at the age of 84. Mailer published more than 30 books, including novels, biographies and non-fiction. He won the Pulitzer Prize twice for "The Armies of the Night" in 1968 and "The Executioner's Song" in 1979. Mailer’s contributions to boxing were extraordinary. Mailer was obsessed with the Sweet Science and wrote countless articles. One article about Muhammad Ali in particular was called “Ego,” and was a selection for "The Best American Sports Writing of the Century." His most famous boxing work however was a book entitled “The Fight.” It is considered one of the best accounts ever written about the Rumble in the Jungle, the 1974 heavyweight championship fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman.
