In Perth, Australia, WBA minimumweight champion Thammanoon Niyomtrong a/k/a Knockout CP Freshmart remained the longest reigning title holder in boxing, gaining a tough road win over Australia's Alex Winwood. The Thai champion squeezed out a majority decision win by scores of 113-113 and 114-112 (twice). Niyomtrong is now 25-0 and has reigned as WBA champ since 2016. A unification fight would seem to be in order. Winwood, fighting for just the fifth time as a pro, fell just short in his bid to unseat the legendary Jeff Fenech's record as the quickest Australian to win a world title.
