PRESS RELEASE: Former EliteXC middleweight champion Murilo “Ninja” Rua of Brazil will try to stump local favorite Xavier “Professor X” Foupa-Pokam when they collide in the main event of “Cage Rage 24: Feel The Pain’’ tomorrow/ Saturday, Dec. 1, at Wembley Arena in London, England.
Other top bouts streamed live on pay per view at ProElite.com at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT: Abdul Mohamed (abdulmohamed.proelite.com), who is perhaps the best wrestler in UK MMA, defends his British lightweight crown against former Cage Rage champion Robbie “The Flame’’ Olivier (robbieolivier.proelite.com), UK legend Mark “The Wizard’’ Weir (markweir.proelite.com) faces Drew “The Master’’ Fickett (drewfickett.proelite.com), Tom “Kong’’ Watson (tomwatson.proelite.com) takes on Mark “The Beast’’ Epstein (markepstein.proelite.com) and exciting heavyweight Neil Grove (neilgrove.proelite.com) collides with hard-hitting Robert “Buzz’’ Berry (robertberry.proelite.com).
Grove, a potential future opponent for EliteXC’s legendary Kimbo Slice (kimboslice.proelite.com), has required all of 44 seconds to devour his last two opponents.
Tomorrow’s Cage Rage will be the first of three excellent Mixed Martial Arts events in three weeks in December that will be streamed live on pay per view at ProElite.com, the world’s premier MMA social networking and entertainment website.
The second is Thursday, Dec. 6, in which a four-man tournament at 183 pounds will highlight “Fury Fight Championships 5’’ at Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Then, Saturday, Dec. 15, “Ruthless’’ Robbie Lawler (robbielawler.proelite.com) defends his middleweight title against hometown hero, Kala Kolohe Hose (kalakolohehose.proelite.com), in the main event at “EliteXC Presents: ICON Sport Fearless“ in Honolulu. Britain’s highly regarded Paul “Semtex’’ Daley (pauldaley.proelite.com) will also appear on the show.
For $24.95, fans can watch the three PPV fight cards in their entirety at ProElite.com. To order the three-pack, please go to
http://www.proelite.com/ppv/3pack/ (individually, each show is $12.95). Please go to
www.proelite.com/mma for additional information.
While tomorrow’s card is excellent from top to bottom, the spotlight will be on Ninja, the talented, world-class Brazilian who will be making his first start since losing his EliteXC belt to Icon Sport titleholder Lawler in a crowd-pleasing, albeit surprisingly one-sided fight on EliteXC’s “Uprising’’ on Sept. 15 in Honolulu.
One of the most dominant forces in MMA, the classy, popular Ninja needs a victory to get back into title contention. But even for a top-level fighter who has fought some of the biggest names in MMA this one figures to be anything but a mere formality.
“The Professor,’’ a southpaw KO artist who has won four straight, is unbeaten in the last two years.
“We’ve said from day one that ProElite and EliteXC are all about inclusion, not exclusion,’’ EliteXC Live Events President Gary Shaw said. “We do not have a problem with our fighters fighting for other organizations, and we welcome the opportunity for fighters from other organizations to fight for us. It can only help the sport of MMA grow nationally and internationally, and that’s what we’re all about.’’
Other fights tomorrow will feature experienced imports such as Elvis Sinosic (elvissinosic.proelite.com) as well as high profile Brits Lee Hasdell (leehasdell.proelite.com) and Ross Pointon (rosspointon.proelite.com).
