Niida pulls out of title defense with rib injury!

According to Japan Today, WBA minimumweight champion Yutaka Niida has sustained a rib injury that has caused him to postpone indefinitely his upcoming title defense that was scheduled for this Satuday against fellow Japanese Katsunari Takayama. The report was attributed to officials of Niida's gym. The bout was to be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. In March, Niida successfully defended his title for the fourth time with a unanimous decision over Ronald Barrera of Colombia. Takayama briefly held the WBC version of the title, but lost it to Eagle Kyowa in 2005. Earlier this year, Takayama won the prestigious Japanese crown at 105 pounds.
