Middleweight Nico Ali Walsh (12-2-1, 5 KOs) has spent his latest training camp in Omaha, Nebraska, sharpening his skills under the guidance of Brian “Bomac” McIntyre as he prepares to return from a ten-month layoff in a significant main-event opportunity. Ali Walsh, the grandson of boxing icon Muhammad Ali, will headline BiYu Promotions’ October 10th show against Treavon Craycraft (9-0-1, 3 KOs) in an eight-round showdown at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. The bout headlines the professional portion of BiYu Promotions’ two-day boxing event, taking place October 9-10, with the action broadcast live worldwide on CombatVisionTV.
For Ali Walsh, the fight represents more than simply returning to competition. After ten months away from the ring, the 26-year-old views the Craycraft matchup as an opportunity to show the improvements he has made while working alongside McIntyre, the acclaimed trainer best known for helping guide multi-division champ Terence “Bud” Crawford to the pinnacle of the sport.
Ali Walsh has spent his camp in Omaha surrounded by a championship-level atmosphere, and he believes working with McIntyre has helped him see the sport differently. “Camp with Bomac has been great,” said Ali Walsh. “He sees little things that you might not notice yourself, and that's what I needed. I'm listening, learning and trying to get better every day. Being in Omaha has allowed me to focus completely on boxing, and I feel like I've made some real improvements.”
Ali Walsh isn't looking for an easy return. Craycraft enters unbeaten and with an opportunity to make a name for himself. “He is undefeated, so I know he's coming in confident and hungry. Beating me would be big for him, and I understand that. I'm expecting the best version of him. I wanted a real fight coming back, and that's what this is.”
Ali Walsh welcomes the responsibility that comes with being the main event and sees the worldwide broadcast as another opportunity to show his growth. “I love being in the main event,” Ali Walsh continue. “There's pressure that comes with it, but that's part of boxing. Knowing people around the world can watch us on CombatVisionTV makes it even better. I want to put on a good fight and remind people what I can do.”
For Ali Walsh, the biggest priority is getting his career moving again and turning the work he's done during his time away into a meaningful victory. “Ten months is a long time to be out, so I'm excited to fight again,” he concluded. “I've had time to work on myself and think about where I want my career to go. A win over an undefeated guy gets me moving in the right direction again. I'm hungry, I'm ready, and I want to stay active after this.”
