Shawn “Showtime” Porter, a two-time former welterweight champion, will return to the ring on August 22nd against undefeated German Sebastian Formella. The 147-pound contest will likely take place at the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles without fans. It will be a Premier Boxing Championship card with Fox the expected broadcaster. Porter (30-3-1) won the IBF tite in 2012 by defeating Devon Alexander.  He lost that title to Kell Brook in 2014 but won the WBC welterweight belt by defeating Danny Garcia in 2018. Porter (pictured) lost that title in an exciting unification bout vs. Errol Spence Jr. in September of last year. Formella (22-0) has nowhere near the world-level experience that Porter does, but he is coming off a victory in January over Roberto Arriaza and has fought respectable opposition his last five times out.
