However, Zepeda's all-action, relentless fighting style had him on top throughout, with the Mexican throwing 884 punches over the fight's scheduled twelve rounds. Winning by unanimous decision, Zepeda was able to banish the ghosts of his defeat to Shakur Stevenson for the same belt just over a year earlier. Stevenson eventually vacated the title to move up in weight. Official scores were 118-110 and 117-111 (twice). DAZN News had the fight scored 116-112 for Zepeda. Roach, who was coming off two hard luck draws that he deserved to win, falls to 25-2-3.
