Nazarena Romero TKO10 Paulette Valenzuela ... Nazarena "Capricho" Romero won the WBA super bantamweight championship on Saturday night at the "WBA KO Drugs" festival at the Casino Buenos Aires and live on DAZN. Romero (14-0-2, 8 KOs) stopped Mexico’s Paulette Valenzuela (17-4, 4 KOs) in the tenth round. Romero dominated the brave Valenzuela with steady combination punching and was able to hurt her Mexican opponent in rounds three, eight and nine with hooks to the liver. Referee Roberto Ramirez Jr. finally indicated he’d seen enough just thirty seconds into the final round. With the victory, Romero became the 36th Argentine world champion in boxing history [according to Sampson Promotions]. Valenzuela is now 0-2 in world title fights, having also lost to Segolene Lefebvre in 2021. Back in January, the WBA ordered then-122-pound champion Erika Cruz of Mexico to make a mandatory defense against Romero. That fight took place in May and was scored a draw. In July, however, the WBA stripped Cruz of her title due to a positive test result for banned substances.
