On the Claressa Shields undercard in Atlanta, South Africa's Bernice Ferreira (11-0) defeated Caroline Veyre by disqualification to win the WBC junior lightweight title. In the middle of the eighth round, Veyre (11-2) continued to hold after being warned several times and was disqualified. According to DAZN, the referee made the right decision. The Canadian Veyre was deducted two points before hand. It was no aberration: Veyre held constantly in her last fight, when she was undeservedly won the vacant title against Delfine Persoon.
