Olascuaga knocked out the home fighter, Riku Kano, in the third round. Olascuaga ended the fight with a combination that was punctuated by a left to the body. The title was vacant due to the prior champ, Jesse Rodriguez, moving up in weight. It was the second title bid of Olascuaga's brief pro career, having lost a 108-pound title bid to Kenshiro Teraji last year. Kano, a veteran whose prime came at 105 pounds, falls to 22-5-2 and will likely retire.
