National commission clears small hurdle in Senate

The United States Senate Commerce Committee took a step towards a national boxing commission on Thursday when it approved legislation that would establish the United States Boxing Commission. The approval was a victory for Senator John McCain, the chief backer of the bill. However, there is a lot of work left to be done, as the full Senate must approve the bill, as well as the House of Representatives, where some Congressmen have openly expressed skepticism. If both houses approve, then the President must sign the bill before a national boxing commission can become a reality.
