Nashiro wins world title in 8th pro fight

Nobuo Nashiro is a world champion in just his eighth pro fight, after stopping Martin Castillo on cuts in the tenth round in his hometown of Osaka, Japan to claim the WBA 115-pound championship. Nashiro, 24 years old, won the Japanese title in his sixth fight, defended it once, and now has captured world honors in just his eighth outing as a paid boxer. Another Japanese-based boxer, Masamori Tokuyama owns the WBC version of the same championship, but the Japanese have never been big on unification bouts. Although not the quickest world title ever, Nashiro tied Joichiro Tatsuyoshi's Japanese record of quickest fights to a world title. Castillo is now 30-2. You can see a photo of Castillo's cut at http://espanol.sports.yahoo.com/060722/1/1ewvo.html.  A news service called Antara quoted Castillo as saying, "I don't complain that the referee stopped the fight, because I was bleeding...  He deserves the victory." source: Associated Press/ Antara
