Narvaez to make non-title defense

On October 29, 2004 Omar Narvaez will give little known Brazilian Wellington Vicente da Silva a rematch of their 2001 bout in Cordoba, Argentina.  Narvaez's WBO flyweight title will not be at stake in the ten-round bout.  Narvaez (rated #6 by Boxingtalk) is the first 2000 Olympian to claim a world title, but he has made several soft defenses, most recently a March stoppage of another Brazilian, Reginaldo Carvalho Martins.  Da Silva looks to be another easy bout for Narvaez.  Since their October 2001 bout which Narvaez won by decision, da Silva has had only one documented bout, a six-round win in January.  However, he may have had other unrerported bouts in Brazil. Â
