Naito defeats teen sensation to retain flyweight title

The Boxingtalk Scoreboard

Daisuke Naito W12 Daiki Kameda... WBC flyweight champion Daisuke Naito won a unanimous decision against 18-year old Daiki Kameda in his first title defense in Japan on Thursday. Scores were 117-107 (twice) and 116-108. Naito was coming off a win over flyweight legend Pongsaklek Wongjongkam over the summer and went straight to the younger of two Kameda brothers, who are cross-over media stars in Japan. Naito is now 32-2-2 with 20 KOs while Kameda drops to 10-1 with 7 KOs. His older brother Koki, is a former WBA 108-pound champ who relinquished the title and has been laying low as far as big fights go. Daiki, who uses throat-slitting gestures and other hip-hop mannersims to pose like a gangsta, showed he also has a bit of punk in him, by body slamming the champion to the canvas in the late rounds. The stunt cost Kameda three points. source: yahoo! boxing / supersport zone

Ray Joval W8 Alban Mothie... Raymond Joval (37-4, 16KOs) returned to his native Holland this week where he defeated Alban Mothie (26-17-3) in an eight-round middleweight bout. The fight card was part of the Ben Brill Memorial fundraiser. Brill is a survivor of the concentration camps who went on to become a professional fighter and eventually a European Champion in the mid 1940's. Joval had Mothie backing into the ropes in the sixth round and kept the pressure on Mothie who was trying to come back with counter punches.  Joval won the fight via a unanimous decision. source: star boxing press release
