Unbeaten lightweight Raymond "Danger" Muratalla will take on Russia’s Zaur Abdullaev for the interim IBF lightweight title on Saturday, May 10th at Pechanga Arena San Diego. [The inactive Vasiliy Lomachenko is the IBF lightweight champion]. Muratalla-Abdullaev will be the co-feature to the WBO junior lightweight title showdown between reigning king Emanuel "Vaquero" Navarrete and unbeaten Filipino challenger Charly Suarez. Muratalla (22-0, 17 KOs) surged into world title contention in 2023, knocking out the big-punching Jeremia Nakathila in two rounds in May before stopping Diego Torres in eight rounds in November. In 2024, he picked up ten-round decisions over Xolisani Ndongeni in March and former junior lightweight champion Tevin Farmer in July before icing Jesus Perez with a second-round TKO that November.
Abdullaev (20-3, 12 KOs including the World Series of Boxing) has won nine straight fights since a 2019 defeat to Devin Haney, including victories over former champions Jorge Linares, Dejan Zlaticanin, and Roger Gutierrez. Navarrete-Suarez and Muratalla-Abdullaev will be broadcast LIVE on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+ at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
