After delivering what most experts and fight fans were calling the “fight of the century” in Manchester between Jamie Moore and Matthew Macklin, Maloney Promotions are please to be returning to their home base at the York Hall in Bethnal Green, London.
 
It’s in this famous venue that the Commonwealth Bantamweight Champion Tshifhiwa Munyai from South Africa will take on Commonwealth Flyweight Champion Lee Haskins, who makes an audacious attempt to move up and become a two-weight champion. This fascinating clash of styles and builds will be decided over the championship distance of 12 x 3 minutes rounds at the York Hall on Friday, 6 October.
 
The clash of styles will be the stand up straight punching of the champion Munyai against the hands down unorthodox swings of the challenger Haskins, a man who has modeled his style on that of Naseem Hamed. The clash of builds will be the tall and rangy South African against the short and compact Bristolian. 
 
Munyai's last visit to these shores saw him go straight up to the top of the unwanted list as he destroyed previously unbeaten British Champion Martin Power to win the Commonwealth title in nine rounds. Despite that, this is still a fight that Haskins has personally asked for.
 
"I'm fit as I have ever been in my life," says unbeaten Lee. "It's a great opportunity and I intend to grab it with both hands. I don't see Munyai's reputation as a problem. In fact, I see it as a stepping stone in the path to becoming world champion."
 
Chief support sees Lewisham’s Junior McDonald square off against Epsom’s Tommy Eastwood for the Southern Area Cruiserweight Championship.  It’s the unbeaten puncher against the gutsy battler in what could be fight of the night.
 
Former triple ABA Champion and double Four Nations Champion Nick McDonald makes his pro debut at super bantamweight and the only licensed Sikh boxer in the country, former amateur star, Akaash Bhatia, looks to make it three unbeaten as a pro.
 
A range of other local and up and coming boxers will make up the eleven bout fight card. Doors will open at 6PM and the first fight will be at 6.30PM.
