Munroe ready to defend Euro title tonight

Press Release: Rendall Munroe has made weight on the eve of his European super bantamweight title defense against mandatory challenger Arsen Martirosian as the two prepare for their clash this evening at Harvey Hadden Leisure Centre in Nottingham, England.

The quick Leicester southpaw mounted the scales at 121.75 pounds while Armenian opponent Arsen Martirosian tipped the beam at 121.25. Munroe, 15-1, puts the title he won from Kiko Martinez at risk for the second time while Martirosian, 12-1, brings the confidence of having won 12 consecutive bouts.

Both Scott Haywood, 18-2, and Dean Harrison, 12-0, made the light welterweight limit ahead of their contest for the vacant English title. Haywood was recorded at 139.25 lb and Harrison weighed the same.

John Fewkes, 17-0, failed to make the lightweight limit for his vacant English title shot against Martin Gethin, 14-0-1, coming in at 1 pound, 3 ounces over. The bout will proceed but should Fewkes win the fight, he cannot take possession of the English title. Gethin made weight handily at 134.75 and can accept the domestic crown should he defeat Fewkes.

Welterweight Matthew Hatton, 33-4-1, measured 149 for his eight round contest against Scott Woolford, 8-1, who was also below the contracted limit at 148.25.
