Multiple injuries sideline Alantez Fox until the fall

"I will be back stronger than ever!"

Greg Leon: It's been a minute since we've spoken, what have you been up to?

Alantez Fox: "I had my first surgery on November 30tg and according to my physical therapist, I'm doing really well. He said I might be able to fight again by the end of the summer or early fall. Maybe August or September, that would be dope. I got another surgery coming up on my shoulder on the 24th of this month. Fingers crossed and prayers up, hopefully everything goes well."

GL: The last time we spoke, you didn't think you were going to require surgery and now it has become the opposite. What was receiving that news like?

AF: "I was a little petrified because that was my first surgery other than getting some teeth removed. I was worried about there being a possibility of them messing it up and me not being able to fight again, because for all that I'll just keep fighting like this. It was cool though, I just had to cope with it. After the MRI they saw that the ligament in my elbow was torn, the rotator cuff was torn and the labrum on my shoulder was torn also. They told me I was going to have multiple surgeries, they told me that not getting the surgeries wouldn't end my fight career, but it would shorten it up and not make me as good a fighter."

GL: A torn rotator cuff, torn labrum and a torn ligament...shit.

AF: "Right now it's one step at a time for me during this process. We're going to see how this surgery goes on my shoulder. Right now my elbow is damn near fully healed. I got a nice little scar there, but it's cool now I've got a story for HBO. That's what they want you to have and now I've got that. I know that after the surgery my left arm is going to basically be completely immobilized. They don't want me doing anything with it."

GL: By the time we get to the fall I assume you're going to need a dust off to shake the rust off.

AF: "They could put me right back in there with Demetrius Andrade it don't matter to me."

GL: That's the fighter in you talking, but your people will likely get you a dustoff, but it's good to see that you desire to fight the best as soon as possible once you're physically able to.

AF: "I haven't talked to [promoter] Lou (DiBella) in a little bit, but I speak to [my advisor] Mike (Borao) all the time and my father keeps them posted on my status. Everything is going to be good. I'm just getting through this process and then I'm coming back stronger than ever. I'm hoping it's easier to get some of the bigger names in the ring now that I've lost a fight, but we'll see."

GL: Closing thoughts for the fans?

AF: "I'll be back. SlyAzaFox will return stronger than ever, mark my words."
