Moruti Mthalane extends decade-long win streak

Moruti Mthalane W12 Masayuki Kuroda... IBF flyweight champion Moruti Mthalane did something unusual for a South African on Monday-- he defended a world title on foreign soil. Fighting Japan's Masayuki Kuroda in Tokyo, Mthalane captured all three judges' scorecards by 116-112 (twice) and 117-111. Kuroda was bleeding from a cut above his right eye. The 36 year-old Mthalane is becoming one of the most accomplished boxers in South American history. He is in his second reign as a flyweight champion and has not lost since 2008, a very forgivable loss to future Hall of Famer Nonito Donaire. (Mthalane's first reign ended when he was stripped due to his promoter's failure to schedule a mandatory defense). Now 38-2, Mthalane wants to go to Engand and unify against WBC champ Charlie Edwards. Kuroda (30-8-3) saw a six-fight winning streak come to an end. source: japan times
