According to the Capital Times in Madison, Wisconsin, former world flyweight titlist Eric Morel was sentenced to two years in prison for having non-consensual sex with a 15-year-old girl three years ago. The district attorney recommended one year of imprisonment, but the judge thought that would be too lenient. Morel, who fought in the 1996 Olympics, had plead no contest to one charge of second-degree sexual assault. He is currently ranked #12 in the Boxingtalk ratings at 115 pounds, but whenever a boxer is sentenced to one year or more in prison, they become ineligible for a Boxingtalk rating.
