Montiel retains title

Fernando Montiel W12 Z Gorres...In an extremely close  and competitive title fight, Fernando Montiel retained his WBO Super-Flyweight (115 pounds) title by defeating mandatory contender, Z Gorres by split decision. Judge Denny Nelson had Gorres up 115-111 while Chuck Giampa had Montiel winning the fight 114-112 and Raúl Caíz had Montiel up 115-111. Gorres lost one point in both the 10th and 12th rounds. Fernando Montiel's record improves to 33-2-1 (24 by KO) and Z Gorres record drops to 26-2-1 (14 by KO).

Jason Cintron W4 Jason Jordan... In Pennsylvania, Jason Cintron won a unanimous decision over Josh Jordan as the co-feature at Lancaster Host Friday night.  With scores of 40-36 on all cards, Cintron took every round from Jordan, 3-6-2. Cintron is now slated for a March 10, 2007 bout against TBA at the Riveredge Hotel and Restaurant in Reading PA also featuring Tarvis Simms, Travis Kauffman, Keenan Collins, Darnell Jiles, Jeremy Stauffer and Bobby Heath.  The Riveredge is located on Route 183 North, just south of the Reading Airport.
