Anthony “The Matrix” Mora (15-0, 10) will return to the ring on March 3rd against NABO #14 Rustam Nugaev (15-4) in a 10-round clash as chief support to the SHOWTIME televised International Boxing Federation (IBF) clash between champion Vic Darchinyan (24-0) and challenger Diosdado Gabi (26-2-1) at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, CA. The televised portion of the card will begin at 11PM ET/PT.
Mora, a 4th place finisher in the 2000 USA National tournament and a 2nd place finisher in the 2000 National Golden Gloves tournament, is up to the task. After injuries slowed him in 2004, he returned with two wins in ’05, and started 2006 off with a big step up win against tough-as-nails Roberto Valenzuela (34-21-2) on January 31st. “This is the year that my brother and I emerge as contenders on boxing landscape, I want people to know that my talent matches my hype!” said Mora. “I was in the same amateur class as Malginaggi, Holt, Cotto, and those guys, but without the same promotional backing, I haven’t gotten the fights needed to make a splash, but this is my chance on a national stage, and I’m going to impress.”
