PRESS RELEASE: On February 8 at Sheikh Rashid Hall in the Dubai World Trade Center, promoter Jessie Robinson will bring world-class boxing back to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, with a four-fight event featuring some of the world’s best boxing talents.
Headlining the evening will be former heavyweight and light heavyweight champion of the world “Double M” Michael Moorer.
Needing little introduction worldwide, Moorer is best known for having defeated Evander Holyfield to become the first southpaw heavyweight champion in boxing history. With an impressive record of 51 wins, 39 by knockout, and 1 draw in 56 fights, Moorer comes to Dubai hungry to return to the top of the big man’s division. Currently ranked #6 by the WBA, Moorer is poised for another run at the championship.
He is scheduled to face South Carolina’s “Bonetown Brawler” Shelby Gross whose record stands at 16 wins, 13 by knockout, in 19 fights.
Adding a bit of local flavor to the evening’s proceedings, the region’s only registered professional boxer, Eisa “The Arabian Warrior” Al Dah, will fight for national pride against American David Love.
Appearing in just his second professional bout, (he won his first by way of first-round knockout in 2007) Al Dah has been preparing tirelessly for this important showcase.
Already an ambassador in establishing the relatively new sport to the region and promoting its growth among the youth of the country, Al Dah’s battle with Love is sure to attract nationwide attention from UAE National supporters.
The evening’s third fight will feature a highly anticipated match-up of two up-and-coming heavyweights.
Hard-punching JD Chapman has a record of 28 wins, 25 by knockout, in 28 fights. His opponent, Rich Boruff, also has an impressive record of 17 wins, 10 by way of knockout, and only one defeat and one draw.
This is sure to be a bruising encounter, as both big men will be looking for an impressive knockout to add to their collections.
Rounding out the action, American heavyweight Kevin Montiy will clash with Czech Republic’s Onderji Pala, both of whom have the punching power to match their imposing records.
