Monte Barrett Comments on Next Opponent

Last Thursday night at the Sechew Powell fight in New York City I was able to have a word with heavyweight contender Monte Barrett regarding his next fight. “Right now my promoter and manager are getting together and we’re going to make a ruling with the WBC to see if me and James Toney are going to fight for the elimination bout.  He’s been injured, so we have to wait until October 9th for the final decision.  In the meantime we have a December date on HBO and we’ve got to determine who I’m going to fight on that date.  If we don’t fight Toney then it’s going to be Jirov.  Regarding the possibility of fighting the winner of the Klitschko/Williams fight Barrett responded,  “I don’t care who wins that fight.  I just want to fight the mandatory so I can get the money I deserve.”
