Minnesota/North Dakota report!

In Fargo, North Dakota over the weekend, Andy Kolle continued to impress the regional boxing community with a hard fought six-round decision over Kareem Chartrand. The turning point of the fight was when Kolle knocked Chartrand down in the fifth, ensuring his victory. Look for Kolle to continue to step up in competition during the new year. Also, Butch Hajicek of Grand Forks, ND stopped Minnesota's Chris Holt by sixth-round technical knockout. Although he hails from North Dakota, Hajicek was able to take the Minnesota middleweight title. This war was the fight of the night, as Hajicek was able to land several hard right hands to the chin of Holt (last seen losing to Andre Ward). Fight fans in the area are looking forward to either a rematch, or want to if Kolle can defeat Hajicek to take his place as the king of the Minnesota middleweights. The buzz around the state of Minnesota is that a HUGE card is being planned for the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul for January. Matt Vanda is once again expected to headline, but the most intriguing fight being discussed is the proposed Zach Walters vs. Kenny Kost bout at 168 lbs. Walters would be stepping down in weight, but is eagerly looking forward to continue his domination of Minnesota and prove to his doubters that he is for real. It is also rumored that talented Minnesota welterweight James Wayka will be appearing on the card.

More results from Fargo: Jesse Barbot, Castleton ND, TKO4 over Yancy Cueller, Moorhead, MN (middleweights);  Sean Hickman, St. Paul, TKO1 over Monte Fasset, Devils Lakes, ND, (heavyweight); Tyler Gould, W. Fargo, ND, TKO1 over Ryan Gronvold, Detroit Lakes, MN (junior welterweights); Darby Smart, Chisholm, MN, KO2 over Randy Boleski, Winnipeg, (featherweights); Travis McCullough, Valley City, ND, TKO1 over Dion Sgro, Detroit Lakes, MN (cruiserweights); and  Marcus Jones, Winnipeg, KO1 Jason Aaker, Grand Forks ND (light heavyweights)
