Three months after suffering his second professional defeat, which came almost six years after the first one, former WBC 130-pound champion Miguel “Alacran” Berchelt of Mexico is plotting his comeback. Berchelt (37-2) lost his title in a punishing loss to Oscar Valdez in February. Berchelt says he has no excuses for the loss but notes he did suffer from the coronavirus "and there was not much recovery time." Berchelt says his initial bout will be in the lightweight division but he fully plans to drop back down to junior featherweight: "We must keep going and we will rise to 135 pounds in my first fight and then return to 130 pounds, aiming for the possibility of a rematch [vs. Valdez]”.
