Vito Mielnicki W10 Austin Williams... New Jersey middleweight Vito Mielnicki picked up a career-best victory over Austin 'Ammo' Williams to establish himself as a serious contender in the 160-pound category. The bout took place in Newark, New Jersey as the chief support prior to Damian Knyba's win over former heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz. After ten rounds, judges scored the contest 98-91 across the board all for Roseland, New Jersey native. Powered by an opening-round knockdown, Mielnicki found an early home with his check hooks that wobbled Williams, putting him on unsteady legs. Though 'Ammo' battled back, and bloodied Mielnicki's nose with a clean shot, Mielnicki hurt Williams (20-3) once again in the tenth and final round to win with style.  A decorated Golden Gloves amateur, Mielnicki (24-1) turned pro as a teenager and has long been tipped as a potential player on the world stage for the division. His lone loss came back in 2021. Now, he has picked up a win over ex-WBC challenger to Williams to further his case for a shot at a major title next year. After the fight, Mielnicki epxressed a desire to chellenge WBA champ Erislandy Lara.
