Michael Moorer heads to Dubai to face Shelby Gross

Press Release: On February 8, 2008 at Sheikh Rashid Hall in the Dubai World Trade Center, promoter Jessie Robinson will bring world-class boxing back to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, with a four-fight event. Headlining the evening will be former world heavyweight champion “Double M” Michael Moorer (pictured), who is best known for defeating Evander Holyfield to become the first southpaw heavyweight champion in boxing history. With a record of 51 wins, 39 by knockout, 4 losses and 1 draw in 56 fights, Moorer comes to Dubai trying for another run at the championship. He is scheduled to face South Carolina’s “Bonetown Brawler” Shelby Gross whose record stands at 16-3 with one no contest.

Adding a bit of local flavor to the evening’s proceedings, the region’s only registered professional boxer, Eisa “The Arabian Warrior” Al Dah, will fight for national pride against American David Love.

Appearing in just his second professional bout, (he won his first by way of first-round knockout in 2007) Al Dah has been preparing tirelessly for this important showcase.

Already an ambassador in establishing the relatively new sport to the region and promoting its growth among the youth of the country, Al Dah’s battle with Love is sure to attract nationwide attention from UAE National supporters.

Also on the show will be hard-punching JD Chapman has a record of 28-0 with 25 by knockout. His opponent, Rich Boruff is 17-1-1 with 10 knockouts.

Rounding out the action, American heavyweight Kevin Montiy will clash with Czech Republic’s Onderji Pala, both of whom have the punching power to match their imposing records.
