Michael Coyle dies suddenly

Boxing attorney Michael Coyle died suddenly in his sleep on Wednesday night. Just 45 years old, Coyle had just taken a deposition earlier that day in a defamation lawsuit between boxing manager Shelly Finkel and ex-Mike Tyson advisor Ted Watley. The lawsuit arose from an interview Watley gave to this website. At the time of his death, Coyle also represented Travis Simms in a lwasuit against the WBA. Coyle is best-known, however, for winning a lawsuit on behalf of Kevin Rooney against Mike Tyson. The Fordham law school graduate took the case all the way up to the highest court in New York state and was able to convince the court that an oral promise made by Tyson that Rooney could train him for life constituted an enforceable contract.  Boxingtalk sends its condolences to the friends and family of Coyle, who departed this world too soon.
