Mesi suspension lifted!

Boxingtalk has been informed that a Nevada judge has lifted heavyweight Joe Mesi's medical suspension, clearing the way for Mesi to resume his boxing career despite having previously suffered a subdural hematoma or brain bleed.  Mesi is not yet licensed anywhere, so he will still have to obtain a license in another state before he can fight. Apparently, the judge ruled that since Mesi's license would have expired in Nevada at the end of 2004, the state lacked the authority to suspend him for any longer than the end of the license date. The decision, if it is not overturned on appeal, could have far-reaching implications on the current system of medical suspensions, which requires states to respect other states' suspensions. "We won our case," an overjoyed Mesi told Boxingtalk. The suspension has been lifted. Next is to just get back in the gym and start training immediately. We probably wont attempt to fight in Nevada or New York first." REMEMBER WHERE YOU HEARD IT FIRST! (4:20 PM EST)
