Menayothin to defend vs. Konkco

WBC minimumweight champion Wanheng Menayothin a/k/a Chayaphon Moonsri, who has a 53-0 pro records, has announced his next title defense. Menayothin will defend his crown on October 25th in Chonburi, Thailand, against the WBC mandatory challenger, Simphiwe Konkco of South Africa. Menayothin generally makes soft defenses and has never tried to unify in his long title reign, even though the longtime WBA champion (Knockout CP Freshmart a/k/a Thammanoon Niyomtrong) is also from Thailand. Konkco was the IBO champion and seems to have been stripped very recently, so there is no reason to criticize Menayothin for this fight. Konkco is 19-5 with wins against against ex-IBF champ Nkosinathi Joyi, Siyabongo Siyo,  Lito Dante and Toto Landero. His most recent fight against Joey Canoy ended in a no contests due to an accidental clash of heads.
