Medina challenges Alfonso Gomez

Press Release:  Coming off a win Chris Overbey, junior middleweight David Medina (12-1, 7 KOs) is looking to take a huge step up in competition for his next fight. “I would love nothing more than to fight Alfonso Gomez in my next fight,” commented Medina, “I know it would be a great fight, and I am officially issuing a challenge to Gomez in hopes of making that fight a reality.” Gomez, a contestant from the previous season of the reality show “The Contender” emerged as a popular contestant from the show. In The Contender’s first season,  Gomez beat Peter Manfredo, then lost a rematch in the semi-finals. Since then he has fought four times, winning three against Jesse Brinkley, Luciano Perez and Carson Jones. Medina, however, knows that Gomez’s reputation for toughness, and his class, cannot be overlooked. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for Alfonso Gomez, he is truly a great fighter and a classy guy,” commented Medina, “as a Mexican-American I especially appreciate all he’s done for the sport of boxing, and the dignity upon which he’s carried himself since he’s emerged as a nationally recognizable contender.”
