Sentencing Scheduled for March 11! Gatti Fight In Serious Jeopardy!
Undefeated pound for pound picasso Floyd Mayweather Jr. pleaded no-contest to misdemeanor assault charges in a Michigan courtroom earlier today. Boxingtalk.com was SHOCKED to learn that Mayweather pleaded no contest to these charges without first negotiating a plea bargain with the prosecutors. The judge has scheduled Mayweather's sentencing for March 11. It was believed that Mayweather was to plea no-contest in order to clear the way for the huge PPV fight with Arturo Gatti to take place on June 11, however, based on the fact that there is no agreement with the prosecutors, the uncertainty surrounding his sentencing only places Gatti-Mayweather in further jeopardy. At worst, Mayweather could serve 90 days in jail and pay a fine. Boxingtalk.com will continue to keep you updated, until then, REMEMBER WHERE YOU HEARD IT FIRST! (9:30 PM ET)
