Mayweather-Hatton: 850,000 Buys

PRESS RELEASE: The December 8th “Mayweather-Hatton: Undefeated” event generated 850,000 buys and $47 million in pay-per-view revenue, making it the highest grossing pay-per-view fight in which neither a heavyweight nor a Latino star (De La Hoya, Holyfield, or Tyson) was featured.   

Mayweather-Hatton capped off a year in which HBOPPV generated a record 4.8 million buys and $255 million in PPV revenue, including the May 5th De La Hoya-Mayweather event which registered a record 2.4 million buys and $134 million in PPV revenue. 

The sport’s momentum is continuing into 2008, with fights already announced including Trinidad-Jones (Jan. 19), Pavlik-Taylor II (Feb. 16), Klitschko-Ibragimov (Feb. 23) and Marquez-Pacquiao II (March 15).
