Mauricio Martinez to appear on June 7 ESPN2 show

Press Release: Sycuan Ringside Promotions announced today it has signed bantamweight contender Mauricio Martinez of Panama to an exclusive, multi-year promotional agreement. The first fight for the 29-year-old southpaw under his new deal will be on an ESPN2-televised card June 7 at the Sycuan Resort & Casino in El Cajon, Calif. Martinez's opponent has not been announcec but the main event on that card features former IBF lightweight titlist Julio Diaz against Marco Angel Perez. “We’re delighted to add Mauricio to our growing stable of world champions and future world champions,” said Glenn Quiroga, president of Sycuan Ringside Promotions. Martinez has a record of 27-5-1 with 18 KOs.  He is currently ranked #12 by Boxingtalk, #2 by the WBA and #6 by the WBC. Managed by Randall Ramirez, Martinez won the WBO bantamweight title with a fifth-round knockout of Lester Fuentes on September 4, 2000 in England and defended it once. He has won his last eight fights.
