Marshall wins world super middleweight championship

Savannah Marshall W10 Franchon Dezurn-Crews... There is a new world super middleweight champion after ten rounds of action in Manchester, England. Savannah Marshall claimed Franchon Dezurn-Crews' four belts via majority decision. Official scores were 95-95, 99-92 and 97-93. Crews-Dezurn was physically stronger but her cardio was not up to Marshall's level so Crews-Dezurn spent much of the twenty minutes of action bulling forward and initiating clinches. Marshall did her best to keep the fight at a distance but did not always succeed. Still, Marshall landed the cleaner punches and deserved the win. She is now 13-1 and a two-division champion, having lost her WBO middleweight title to Claressa Shields last year. This win likely sets up a big rematch between Shields and Marshall. Crews-Dezurn is now 8-2.
