Marquez-John is on for December 9!

Sources close to Juan Manuel Marquez have informed Boxingtalk that the featherweight king has signed a contract to face WBA champion Chris John in Indonesia on December 9. As Boxingtalk first reported John's Promoter MTM Promtoions earned the right to promote the bout, by winning a WBA purse-bid with a mere $125,000. After turning down over $700,000 to face Manny Pacquiao earlier in the year, Marquez will now travel around the globe for $31,250. Other than Top Rank allegedly seeking an extension on it's promotional agreement with Marquez, Boxingtalk recalls Nacho Betterjustrain, Marquez's manager or perhaps we should say, mis-manager, citing "disrespect" as one of the reasons Marquez refused the Pacquiao rematch. If $700,000 is disrespect what is $31,250? The  The IBF and WBA should both be ashamed of themselves for stripping Marquez of their straps, but not as ashamed as the Marquez braintrust should feel for turning down the Pacquiao rematch. REMEMBER WHERE YOU HEARD IT FIRST! (12:00 AM EST)
