NER Promotions has appointed veteran Mark Vaz as Vice President of Boxing Operations, president Rick Brutti announced today. Vaz has extensive experience in boxing, starting as an amateur boxer and including trainer, manager, site coordinator and cutman. In addition to serving as Glen Johnson’s cutman and Carl Daniels’ co-manager, Vaz was Jermain Taylor’s manager for the middleweight contender’s first three years
as a pro. “I’m trying to get the NER machine rolling,” Vaz, a resident of Plymouth, Massachusetts noted. “It’s a good group with Danny Sheehan matchmaking and Billy Skog helping as site coordinator. I want to help NER to become efficient as a group so we can strategically expand to other markets in the country.” NER also announced the signing of All-Africa & Namibian welterweight champion Bethuel “Tyson” Usona (11-0, 4 KOs) and 2004 Namibian Olympian, featherweight Joe “Smoke” Germini (1-0, 1 KO).
