Contender star Peter Manfredo Jr. will no longer headline HBO's October 14 installment of Boxing After Dark. Last week it appeared as though DiBella Entertainment and The Contender Group had reached a deal, but obviously no contracts were signed and according to Jeff Wald, The Contender Group was willing to share Manfredo "on October 14, not the rest of his career." No main event for the October 14 telecast has been solidified as this goes to print. As Boxingtalk.com first reported last week Andre Berto will make his HBO debut in the co-feature. Berto's promoter Lou DiBella told Boxingtalk.com that Larry Mosley already turned the fight down, but stated that Henry Crawford and Antonio Diaz are amongst those under consideration. As a result of the October 14 fight on HBO falling through Wald informed Boxingtalk.com that a regional PPV, hadlined by Peter Manfredo Jr is in the works for either October 14 or October 28 at the Dunkin Donuts Cener in Providence, Rhode Island. After learning of Wald's remarks DiBella had this to say, "Jeff Wald's veracity and history speaks for itself. Hollywood is perhaps the only arena more disgusting and dishonest than the boxing arena. I won't dignify his comments with a response." Regarding the new main event, DiBella said, "We're going to give HBO and the boxing fans a Boxing After Dark they can be proud of on October 14."
