Magee vows to rid Ireland of Cobra

Belfast's own boxing hero Brian Magee has sworn to finish the job started by St. Patrick in 450 AD and rid Ireland completely of the emerald isle's last remaining snake, Carl "The Cobra" Froch, vowing to drive the brash Nottingham man into the sea. Maloney Promotions are thrilled to stage this most anticipated domestic super middleweight dustup since the classics of Benn and Eubanks on March 31st at the famous Kings Hall in Belfast.

The London based promotional firm knocked out every other promoter in Britain, winning the right to stage this cracking matchup between British and Commonwealth Champion Carl Froch and former IBO Champion and European challenger, Brian Magee.

The hard as nails champion Froch, who claims be the number one super middleweight in the domestic ratings and is unbeaten to date, will face his toughest test in Brian Magee, a hammer-fisted, sharply skilled southpaw who knows that anything other than a win in front of his beloved Belfast crowd would see the end of a once promising career.

Both of these superb athletes were highly decorated amateurs and this pairing is the sort of fight that boxing fans and even armchair sports fans will relish. It may be an overused statement in boxing, but this fight has genuine crossover appeal.

Magee commented earlier this week from training camp, "I know that this fight is my pathway to getting back on the world scene and it is superb to have promoters who believe in me and have given me home advantage. I would be sitting here as European Champion if I had that home advantage last time out."

This classic super middleweight fight will be screened live by Sky Sports and backed up by an undercard of up and coming prospects.
