Maestrito Lopez to headline in Chicago

Press Release: Dominic Pesoli's 8 Count Productions and Top Rank Incorporated present "Latin Fire" on Friday, October 14, 2005 in Cicero, Illinois. Headlining the card is the Chicagoland debut of Jose Luis Lopez, (47-4-2, 37 KO's) of Durango, Mexico against an opponent to be announced later. "Maestrito" won the WBO welterweight title in 1996 and defended it against Yory Boy Campas on October 6, 1996 by knocking out Campas in the fifth round.  One year later on October 17, 1997, Lopez fought former world champion Ike Quartey to a twelve-round draw. The 32 year old Lopez returned to the ring last fall after a four year absence and is riding a three fight winning streak. Gilbert Venegas, (8-1-1, 5 KO's) faces off against Steve Vincent, (8-3, 7 KO's) in the eight-round welterweight co-main event. Said Pesoli about the co-main, "We just signed Gilbert and we're thrilled to have him on our show. Vincent's a very tough, heavy handed kid from St. Louis which should provide a solid test for Gilbert.  The under card also features the return of two popular Chicago fighters, welterweight KO artist Luciano "El Mohicano" Perez, (12-2-1, 11 KO's) and middleweight Miguel Hernandez, (16-3, 9 KO's) in separate bouts. Tickets starting at $30 are on sale by calling 312-226-5800.
