Lucas overcomes injury to top Crawford

Super middleweight contender Éric Lucas (Boxingtalk #12, 38-6-3, 47 KO) overcame a hand injury to win an easy unanimous decision by scores of 119-103, 116-105 and 119-104 against an overmatched James Crawford (39-10-2, 17 KO) in Montreal Friday night. Crawford took five 8-counts throughout the fight in an attempt to regroup from Lucas' rushes. The former WBC super middleweight title holder's right hand was injured during the fourth round, but he continued imposing his will on his opponent. TheCanadian boxer/promoter is now aiming for a shot at the world title he lost to Germany's Markus Beyer in 2003 by a hotly disputed decision. The best news of all for Canadian fans is that Friday's show drew a sold-out crowd of nearly 8500 to the Bell Centre. Source: RDS
