Lorenzo to face Kamya on Duddy undercard

Duddy vs. Lorenzo on the horizon?

Press Release: Middleweight Giovanni Lorenzo (22-0) understands how important his March 16, 2007 bout against Robert Kamya (15-6) is to his career plans.  The 26-year-old Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native dreams of fighting on HBO against the division’s elite. Lorenzo-Kamya is on the same “Erin Go Brawl” Madison Square Garden-hosted fight card headlined by  John Duddy.  “This fight is of great importance because I will be showcased on PPV and in front of the Madison Square Garden fans,” said Lorenzo.  “I haven't had this level of TV exposure before in my career. These are the type of fights that will propel me to the next level of big fights. It will allow me to introduce myself to the boxing world in dramatic fashion and will also help me move up in the rankings”. Should Lorenzo emerge victorious on March 16th, he would like “to fight John Duddy on HBO”.  Lorenzo’s management says that the Duddy camp has agreed to the fight, but that if it doesn't happen, “Gio wants to fight any of the top middleweights from Jermain Taylor on down”. Lorenzo’s trainer Pastor Ralph Farrait has watched tapes of Kamya and describes him “as a good boxer with good movement who is in shape and who throws a lot of punches and tries to outwork his opponents like he did against Bunema”.
