Lorenzo beats Archak with body attack

Giovanni Lorenzo TKO7 Archak Ter-Meliksetian... Junior middleweight Giovanni Lorenzo got the biggest win of his career in New Jersey on Friday, stopping big punching Archak Ter-Meliksetian after seven rounds.  It was a competitive fight with Lorenzo, a 2000 Dominican Olympian, appearing to be slightly ahead on the cards despite a point deduction for hitting behind the head. Lorenzo didn't have to worry about the judging, though, because Ter-Meliksetian quit in his corner before the eight round could begin. Reportedly, Lorenzo's body shots caused his opponent to throw up between rounds and that ended the bout. Lorenzo  hasn't been aggressively promoted but his co-managers Kurt Emhoff and Rich Ryan have patiently guided him to 20-0, including four pretty good wins in his last five fights. Ter-Meliksetian drops to 15-3 with back-to-back losses against undefeated boxers (Lorenzo and Sechew Powell).  More results from North Bergen, New Jersey... Super middleweight Wayne Johnsen improved to 11-1 by stopping Clifton Roberson, 2-1-1, by fifth-round technical knockout... Huge Polish heavyweight Mariusz Wach is now 8-0 after a six-round decision win over Earl Ladson, 12-9. -Scott Shaffer
